Grattan Raceway

About this event

GOOD NEWS/NOT SO GOOD NEWS: good news: we've had a great turnout.  Bad news: we're full up and the Registration is CLOSED!!  But, we've created a Wait list for Students and Instructors, so please fill out what you can and we'll let you know if/when something opens up.  Please read through to check out needs for Tech Inspetion requirements.

Come join Rally Sport Region PCA and our team of experienced, nationally recognized instructors for a challenging and enjoyable a 2- & 3-day driver’s education event at Grattan Raceway!  Grattan Raceway has features for just about everyone in its two miles: a long (slightly-uphill) start-finish straight; increasing & decreasing radius turns, most on-camber, one not-so-much; clean restrooms, fuel available and a pretty-darn-good snack bar!

BREAKING NEWS: Ross Bentley, world renowned Driver Coach, multi-series pro driver, author of the Speed Secrets book series and great friend of RSP-PCA will be joining us again for the entire weekend!!  Stay tuned for a separate mailing with details of the news.

LODGING - THE AmericInn IS NO LONGER TAKING RESERVATIONS!  I would suggest trying hotels near the Grand Rapids Airport.  We stayed at the SpringHill Suites Grand Rapids in 2022 -- decent accommodations.  We've reserved a block of rooms at the AmericInn by Wyndham in Greenville, MI -- 15-20 minutes NE of the track.  Please mention "RSR-PCA Porsche Club" to receive the discount rate plus applicable taxes. The number of rooms is limited (Thurs-15; Fri/Sat-35) and will only be held available until Monday May 6th, so book early.  You must make your own reservation.

Instructors

Grattan Friday: Instructor Motorsport Safety Foundation Level 2 Certification; but will have Advanced driver/solo Day of course!

Participating Advanced Solo Students

Three solo run groups for experienced solo advanced students who attend at least 75% of RSP PCA track events during the calendar year (or at least 3 out of the last 5 weekend Drivers Education events) will be available.

Students who participate in the FIDD will have separate rules from the instructors similar to Driver’s Education days and will not be allowed to drive in all run groups.

All students wishing to participate in the FIDD are subject to review and participation is not guaranteed.  Even when a student is accepted, their on-track behavior will be monitored.  If students do not demonstrate appropriate track etiquette they will be asked to park their car for the remainder of the day and their money will not be refunded.

Proper Etiquette is defined as (but not limited to):

  • Demonstrating excellent car control, (offs that require the track to shut down will not be tolerated)
  • Knowledge of the limit of traction
  • Condition-appropriate driving
  • Respect for other cars, both while passing and being passed (ignoring mirrors will not be tolerated)
  • Respect for flag stations and lead tower

Loaner/Rental Helmet Policy: Helmets are "loaned" to Green Group drivers only for a maximum of 4 events, cumulatively over the years.  Loaner helmets MUST be returned at the end of the event, with the carry bag.  Don't make me hunt you down!!  After the 4th loan the club reserves the right to "rent" the helmet to the driver for $35/event. Loaners will be tracked effective 2021 season opener and will carryover to future years.  All loaner helmets are SA2015 or SA2020 and all now have HANS anchors.
NEW:  loaner helmet & HANS device number must be recorded on your Tech form, right hand at-track section.
